Adam Frank is an internationally
shown artist and truly innovative product inventor. His body of work
represents an ongoing investigation of light and interactivity. This
investigation naturally blurs the boudarie between fine art, toys and
products for the home.
Adam is currently designing and producing artwork, products and toys that directly utilize his unique expertise in projected environments and virtual interactive characters. He was an artist-in-residence at the LMCC World Views program in The World Trade Center and produced a large-scale installation in co-production with The Banff Centre for the Arts. At Eyebeam, a new media arts lab in Chelsea NYC, Adam produced an interactive artwork using real-time, autonomous characters. This work was selected to represent the United States in an exhibition at the Athens Summer Olympic Games. He has recently been awarded a NYFA Grant, a NYSCA grant and was a Yaddo fellow in 2004. Adam is currently designing custom light installations for many sites around the world.
LUMEN, Adam’s first completely independent product, is one of the MoMA Store’s best selling items. LUMEN, a shadow casting oil lamp, has been featured in the New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Dwell and USA Today. REVEAL, Adam’s second independent product, has just been released. This small projector implies the presence of a real window by simulating sunlight entering through an imaginary window. A light breeze appears to move through trees in the cast image. REVEAL has been featured in the New York Times, Metropolis and Architectural Record.
Both LUMEN and REVEAL are made entirely in the USA.
